General info on the contents of the webinar:

In architecture and interior design, communication between professionals from different fields and between professionals and consumers is key to efficient planning processes that lead to satisfactory results. Technologies such as virtual and augmented reality (VR, AR) have the potential to transform such planning processes. However, to be successful, such tools must be able to be used by both experts in the field and consumers, and they must be able to create and modify content without requiring technical experts. Technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) can help automate such processes, enabling a new generation of VR and AR applications. In this webinar, the results of two current research projects will be presented. ATLANTIS (http://atlantis-ar.eu) developed an app to support interior design and furniture retail using augmented reality, including diminished reality, i.e. the ability to remove real objects that would otherwise collide with inserted virtual objects. PrismArch (https://prismarch-h2020.eu) developed VR-based tools for the architecture, engineering and construction industries that allow experts from different fields to view, annotate and modify data together for a holistic view that includes aesthetics, simulation models and meta-information.
